Less is More

"Honey!!! You must take the garbage out", didn't  I take it this morning ? Am I going loca and forgetting things. I checked the garbage and yes! Is full! And so is the plastic container, and OMG the paper, didn't we throw yesterday a full paper box filled with ...?. Ok.Something is wrong here. Once in front of the container bin I recall all neighbors diligently throwing their paper, glass, plastic, tetra, cans, organic compost and ....makes me wonder what is wrong. The garbage truck daily empties the bins and daily we fill them ..just one block of neighbors, how many are we in the block? Probably less than 80, and how many at home? The two of us and sometimes just one. How on earth is that possible?and yes,  Earth is what worries me when I see every day the trucks leaving ...., who knows where al, our garbage.

Not being in a nostalgic mood but I clearly remember that my grandparents would empty their garbage every 2 days or so and...they were 3 in the household. I am talking mid and late 70s. Same at home , the 4 of us would barely fill a small bucket. What happened? How is possible to fill 4 in one day...and sometimes twice.

I think we all know what and why and regardless i already wrote a personal piece about it some time ago the shame continues to grow because we , me and probably each of us haven't probably done anything about it. Who is the final benefit of all?. Yes. The answer are big corporations.

Lets see ..., I don't consider myself a green radical but more on the green side and I say: shame on the ones that dogmatize constantly and bring shame to other,s lifestyles. Most of green activism is based on this behavioral shame to others and probably what has been a rejection for me to join any group saving the world or others...it is the way message is conveyed and spread and I think it could be better said and generate more empathy since we all know we must save the world and our daily decisions can shape the difference.

Well, lets see...., have you ever thrown food into the garbage? Probably you overfilled the supermarket buying.... , do you over cook? . I remember the times when I never saw anyone throwing food into the garbage. Regardless being or not religious, it is a sin, a big shameless failure to throw food. Lets see, can we make something about it? I think I can , I think I can buy what I need thinking ahead a menu and if any leftovers then try to think how to recycle them. Do you remember that from making the stock soup you could make croquettes? Or empanadillas ?

What about when we buy? Why don't we make packaging free choices? Why my toothpaste requires 3 layers of packaging? , why do I need to put each veggie and fruit into a plastic bag ? Isn't it charming a nesting bag?..., mmmmm, I think we can make some saving here.
Glass bottles instead of plastic , or , why don't you fill a bottle water from home with tap water instead of buying a plastic one? ....it think we could make the list longer. Ideas?

Also, it is quite upsetting the whole recycling thing...,although, I know is part of the educational awareness and sensitivity towards the action and I have only to add that good citizens should be rewarded for it. I think a system could track each time we recycle properly and how often.

I will definitely  keep going into the packaging side,......, although I love packaging , I think it has to be meaningful and mindful for any brand to over package UNLESS there is an added value to society from it , companies over packaging should be taxed plus. I can't believe all the stupidity and Pc around so many RSC,s policies from big companies that keep going and going into it and also regardless of going on recycled paper the company save so much money out of cutting it.

I just think less is more and any company or individual looking for a better planet should go into it proudly. Shall we? Lets go packaging free, lets shop what we need and let's live accordingly to our needs.

Virtual vs Real #Placemaking: Finding the Balance Between Immersion and Authenticity

Creating spaces that bring people together, whether through art, architecture, or community development, is at the heart of placemaking. But as technology evolves, the way we experience these spaces is also changing. Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and the metaverse promise to transform the experience, offering accessibility and unique perspectives. However, can these digital tools truly replace the depth and authenticity of real-world experiences? Drawing on my reflections and past work, this blog explores the debate between virtual and real placemaking—when does technology enhance, and when does it fall short? Revisiting Placemaking at Its Best When I think of extraordinary placemaking, my mind always returns to The Gates by Christo and Jeanne-Claude in Central Park, 2005. Standing amidst 7,503 flowing saffron panels, it was impossible not to feel inspired, engaged, and deeply present. This unique installation wasn’t just art—it was an experience, drawing mill...
